The name of the Creator is more than just a title; in biblical terms, a name represents character, authority, and presence. Throughout the Scriptures, the name YAHUAH (the phonetic transliteration of the Tetragrammaton YHWH) is revealed not as a generic label, but as a personal identifier that sets the Almighty apart from all other deities.

Understanding the importance of this name is a journey into the heart of biblical truth. Here is why the name of YAHUAH holds such profound significance.

1. It Is His Memorial Name Forever

When the Almighty spoke to Mosheh (Moses) from the burning bush, He didn’t just give a description of His power; He gave His name. He established it as His “memorial”, the way He wants to be remembered by all generations.

Moreover Elohim said to Mosheh, “Thus you shall say to the children of Yasha’el: ‘YAHUAH Elohai of your fathers, the Elohai of Avraham,  of Yitschaq, of Ya’aqov, has sent me unto you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’ Exodus 3:15

2. There Is Safety in the Name

The Bible describes the name of YAHUAH as a physical place of protection. It isn’t a magic charm, but rather a representation of His sovereign authority. To “run into” His name is to trust in His character and His promise to defend those who belong to Him.

“The Name of YAHUAH is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.” Proverbs 18:10

3. We Are Commanded to Proclaim It

Throughout the Psalms and the Prophets, there is a recurring theme: the people of the Almighty are called to declare, praise, and make His name known among the nations. Using His specific name honors His unique identity.

“Give thanks to YAHUAH, call upon His Name; make known His deeds among the peoples, make mention that His Name is exalted.” Isaiah 12:4

4. Distinction from Idols

In a world filled with “gods” and “lords,” the name YAHUAH serves as a divine distinction. In the original Hebrew texts, the name appears nearly 6,000 times, far more than any title like “God” or “Lord.” By using His name, we acknowledge the specific Creator who brought true Israel out of Egypt and redeemed humanity.

I am YAHUAH, that is My Name; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to carved images. Isaiah 42:8

5. Salvation Is Linked to His Name

The New Covenant does not do away with the importance of the Father’s name. In fact, the name of the Messiah, Yahusha, carries the Father’s name within it, meaning YAHUAH is Salvation. The Scriptures make it clear that calling upon the true Name is central to our spiritual life.

And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the Name of YAHUAH shall be saved. Joel 2:32 (also see Romans 10:13)
