Why is it so Easy to Sin Today? And Why Do I Keep Doing It?

Let’s explore the reality of sin and review what the Bible tells us about it.

Before we dive in, I implore you to read the full scriptures of the verses provided. Context is everything. To truly understand, we must pray to YAHUAH (God) through Yahusha Ha’Mashiach (Jesus Christ) for the Ruach Ha’Qodesh (Holy Spirit) to fill us with wisdom and discernment.

What is Sin?

Simply put, sin is disobedience to YAH’s will. It is rebellion. While there are many “types or kinds” of sin, the result is singular: death. Whether it is lying, murder, adultery, fornication, or theft, the wages remain the same.

Why is it So Easy to Sin Today?

Many agree we are in the “last days” not the end of existence, but the time nearing the second coming of Yahusha Ha’Mashiach. We were told of the things to expect in the last days in Matthew 24:3-14

1. The Increase of Lawlessness

In Matthew 24:12, Yahusha warned that “because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” People have stopped striving for righteousness and have become consumed by selfishness.

2. The “Days of Noah” Factor

Jesus said the end times would mirror the days of Noah (Luke 17:26-29). In those days, the earth was corrupt and filled with violence. Today, we see a “seared conscience” across the world. We see a dangerous trend where young people, even those raised in the church, glamorize fornication and avoid marriage, claiming they need to “enjoy life.”

3. The Corruption of the Church

The church has often become diluted with the love of money and lust. Instead of preparing the “Bride” (the church) for Ha’Mashiach, many preach a prosperity gospel, forgetting that Yahusha (Jesus) died to save us from the wrath of Elohim, not to help us accumulate worldly treasures.

4. The Culture of Self-Obsession

2 Timothy 3:1-5 warns that in the last days, men will be “lovers of themselves.” Modern culture tells you to “love yourself” above all else. While we should appreciate YAHUAH’s creation, this has turned into a narcissistic obsession.

5. The Normalization of Wickedness

Decades ago, certain acts were universally recognized as abominations. Today, they are protected by law and promoted by entertainment. Through movies, music, and social media, we are constantly bombarded with nudity, blasphemy, and violence. This slow drip of wickedness desensitizes Believers, making sin feel normal.

Why Do I Keep Sinning?

There are two hard truths here:

1. Lack of Knowledge: You may not realize you are sinning because you aren’t familiar with the Word.
2. Love of the Sin: You keep at it because it makes you happy. (Well at least, in the moment) And when the consequences catch up to us, we are filled with regret.

You can’t conquer a vice that you’re still making excuses for. You won’t find freedom from a struggle you still find rewarding. If you claim to be a believer but continue to live in habitual rebellion, you must ask yourself if you are truly born again and if you truly love YAH.

While we all face daily temptation, the devil cannot enter your mind unless you allow him. He uses technology, the media and the people around us to present wicked thoughts, hoping you will dwell on them. Remember, man was born in sin, but YAHUAH did not leave us without armor.

The Way Out: Breaking the Bondage

Sin is a form of slavery. The old saying is true: “The guilty are always afraid.” A sinner is never free; they are always hiding, running, and afraid of being found out. YAHUAH offers us a life of freedom and peace that no human can provide.

How to get right with YAHUAH:

• Acknowledge the Battle: You cannot fight this alone or in the flesh. It is a spiritual war.
• Repent and be Baptized: True baptism is a declaration that you have left your old life behind and genuinely walk in righteousness.
• Starve the Flesh: Remove the distractions and entertainment that cloud your mind. If something makes you stumble, cut it off.
• Build a Relationship: Believing in YAH is not about religion; it is a way of life. Read the Word daily, even just one chapter. But please strive to read more as the times today are wicked.

Find True Fellowship: You don’t need a cathedral or church building. Where two or three are gathered in His name, He is there (Matthew 18:20).
